The perks of working from home is that you can work from anywhere you want as long as you have a decent internet connection. However, it's hard to find cafes in Metro Manila which have a decent internet connection, has power outlets and is not that crowded. Co working spaces are too expensive for me. I am currently on a mission to check out the places where I can work with my friends.
A good find is the Ascott Hotel Cafe in Makati. It is very accessible. I actually took the MRT line up to Ayala station and then went to Glorietta. You'll find the Ascott Hotel beside Glorietta. (I'm sorry if that's not very specific. I'm really not good with directions.) I used Google maps to direct me to Ascott Hotel and maybe you might want to use it too if you can't find it. The cafe is located on the 6th floor. Just tell the guard that you'll go to the cafe.
The ambiance is great. The music is not that loud and the airconditioning is bearable. There are also power outlets available, but you need to make sure that you are early so you can take the table next to one. The wifi connection is also good. When we did a speedtest, the download speed was at 2MBPs and the upload speed was up to 1MBPs. The cafe employees were also very polite and helpful. They were even refilling the water for my glass without even me asking! That's great customer service for me. 🙂
I ordered mango shake and then iced brewed coffee later on. I spent around 350 Php and we worked for about 5 hours at the cafe which is not a bad deal. Joanna, my friend, ordered a cappuccino and spent 110 Php. Not bad!
